Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using SeaSalt ("the Service"), including SeaSalt for Mac, the SeaSalt iPhone app, and our servers and relay, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

SeaSalt for Mac runs AI agents on your Mac. Agents work in your projects using the AI provider accounts you connect, and Captain helps you coordinate them. SeaSalt Pro adds the SeaSalt iPhone app, which lets you follow and respond to agents and access your Mac remotely through terminal, remote desktop, file, and Browse sessions.

Remote-access sessions are end-to-end encrypted between your devices. Agent and work-session content is stored on our servers so it can sync across your devices, as described in our Privacy Policy.

3. Account Registration

You must provide a valid email address to create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to your account.

4. Subscription Plans and Billing

SeaSalt for Mac is free. SeaSalt Pro is a paid subscription that adds the iPhone app and remote access, subject to the plan limits shown when you subscribe. New accounts start with a 14-day free trial of Pro; no payment card is required for the trial. After the trial, Pro features stop unless you subscribe. Subscriptions are billed monthly or annually through Stripe.

Paid subscriptions automatically renew each billing cycle unless cancelled. You may cancel at any time through the billing portal, which you can open from the SeaSalt app. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not provide refunds for partial billing periods.

We reserve the right to modify pricing with 30 days' notice. Continued use after a price change constitutes acceptance.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Violate any applicable laws or regulations
• Access systems or data without authorization
• Distribute malware, viruses, or harmful code
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
• Attempt to circumvent usage limits, authentication, or security measures
• Resell, sublicense, or provide access to the Service to third parties without authorization

You are solely responsible for all activity conducted through your account, including remote sessions and actions taken by your agents. SeaSalt cannot see the content of end-to-end encrypted remote sessions.

6. Device Management and Security

You are responsible for the security of your registered devices and pairing relationships. You should promptly revoke access to any device or pairing that may have been compromised. SeaSalt provides device revocation tools that take immediate effect across all system layers.

7. Agents and Your Mac

Agents act on your Mac. Depending on the permissions and approval settings you choose, they can run commands, read and change files, use the command-line tools and accounts configured on your Mac, and use the integrations you grant them. A paired iPhone can start and control terminal and remote desktop sessions on your Mac.

You are responsible for reviewing agent settings and approvals, for what your agents do, and for any changes, costs, or other results of their actions. AI output can be wrong; review changes before you rely on them. Keep backups and use version control for work you care about.

8. Third-Party Providers

Agents use AI providers you connect with your own accounts, such as Anthropic (Claude Code), OpenAI (ChatGPT and Codex), Cognition (Devin), and local tools such as Ollama and LM Studio. Your use of those services is governed by their terms, and any usage charges are billed by those providers, not by SeaSalt. The session assistant in the iPhone app uses xAI to generate answers. We are not responsible for third-party services.

9. Encryption and Your Data

Terminal, remote desktop, file, and Browse sessions are end-to-end encrypted (AES-256-GCM with X25519 key agreement). Encryption keys are generated on and stored in your devices' Keychains, and we cannot decrypt these sessions or provide their contents to anyone.

Agent and work-session content, account data, and session metadata are stored on our servers and are not end-to-end encrypted. We may disclose this data when required by law. Our Privacy Policy describes what we store and how long we keep it.

10. Service Availability

We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. We will make reasonable efforts to provide advance notice of planned maintenance.

11. Intellectual Property

The SeaSalt name, logo, and all associated software, designs, and documentation are the intellectual property of SeaSalt. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service in accordance with these Terms.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, SeaSalt shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, profits, or business opportunities, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the twelve months preceding the claim.

13. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

14. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. You may ask us to delete your account at any time by emailing support@seasalt.app. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately, and we may delete your account data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

15. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes via email or through the Service. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

16. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction.
